Statistically, many of our couples get engaged over the December holidays, with additional proposals taking place throughout the winter months until Valentine’s Day. Even in a pandemic, it’s no exception – we noticed many couples continuing the tradition of holiday engagements.
Now that it’s spring, however, many brides and grooms are thinking about the next steps in planning their weddings. That includes one of our favorite parts of wedding planning: creating a registry and adding gifts!
Some people ask us this question from time to time, and in today’s modern world, we can’t blame them. Some wedding traditions can feel a bit old-fashioned or don’t necessarily apply to 2021’s forward-thinking couples.
But, we always encourage our newly-engaged customers to think of it this way: the registry is not simply a list of items you want; it’s a way to help your friends, families, and wedding guests feel at ease when picking something out for your shower, wedding event, or big day.
Many of those close to the couple don’t like guessing at what would make a great gift.
Wedding guests want to get you something they KNOW you’ll love.
The Knot created an innovative formula to know how many gifts you should add to your wedding registry: think of how many guests you’re inviting, multiply it by two, and add a few extras.
But, if you’re planning on having wedding showers, parties, or any other informal get-togethers from now until the wedding date, you may want to add a few more.
Many of our couples find that they start receiving gifts from when they get engaged to their first anniversary as a married couple, so plan accordingly.
Create a wedding registry as early as you can. As mentioned above, people will begin giving you gifts not long after getting engaged, so it’s best to be prepared.
Many of our couples engaged over the winter holidays have already created registries. If you get engaged during the second most popular engagement season – summer – create your registry before the end of August for good measure.
