Pearl Care

Pearl jewelry is a staple in the south and classic for all ages, and Bromberg’s offers a beautiful selection of pearl strands and jewelry. Your pearl jewelry will keep its natural luster with only a little maintenance from time to time.

Restringing Your Pearls

Because pearls are strung on natural threads that wear over time, we recommend restringing your necklaces and bracelets every couple of years. If you notice your pearls are loose with gapping between them or see the thread is dirty, it’s time for restringing. Restringing costs $2.50-$3.00 per inch and typically takes three weeks.

Caring for Your Pearls

Pearls are soft and can be easily scratched or abraded, but, with a little care, pearl jewelry can last a lifetime and be enjoyed by generations. Store your pearl jewelry in a soft pouch, and avoid contact with lotion, perfume, hairspray, and perspiration. Use the guideline “Last on, first off” for pearl jewelry. Wipe your pearls with a soft cloth after wearing and before storing them. Never use an ultrasonic or steam cleaner on your pearls; instead, use warm soapy water for a deep clean and make sure the string is completely dry before wearing or storing.

Our carefully curated selection of pearl jewelry includes Mikimoto and Add-A-Pearl, among other designers.
