We are so happy to share the beautiful wedding of two of our own, Catherine and Michael, who work at our Mountain Brook store!
Catherine and Michael were introduced by mutual friends at a bonfire in 2011, but they didn’t realize their friendship was something more until a few years later. While Catherine was completing her nursing clinical rotations, Michael slipped a note into her wallet that read “You are amazing.” For their first date, Michael took Catherine to the Tip Top Grill in Bluff Park because it overlooks the wooded area where they met at the bonfire years before. What started as a close friendship turned into a beautiful relationship, and Catherine still carries Michael’s note with her.
A couple years of dating went by, and Michael started working at Bromberg’s, where Catherine was already employed. On December 27, 2017, Michael wrote Catherine another note asking her to meet him at the Bromberg’s Village Christmas Tree “to start something that will last forever.” He popped the question, with their family and friends watching from the side of our store, and of course she said yes! Now the Bromberg’s Tree is forever marked in their hearts as the spot where their love story began.
Michael presented Catherine a beautiful white gold ring set with his great grandmother’s diamond that she had been given shortly before the start of World War I. Bromberg’s master jeweler, Philip Flenniken, created a matching wedding band.
Catherine found her gorgeous lace wedding gown at The White Room, and she wore an exquisite string of pearls from Bromberg’s gifted to her by her family. Her groom wore a classic black tuxedo from Mr. Burch Formal Wear and carried his great grandfather’s pocket watch. Together, the pair looked unforgettable on their wedding day!
The bridesmaids wore floor length, shimmering burgundy dresses from Bella’s Bridal and Formal, and the groomsmen were a dashing group in black tuxedos. The bouquets and boutonnieres were gorgeous with blooms of deep red, blush, and cream.
While the bridesmaids were primped and pampered during hair and makeup, they wore cozy flannel shirts. Catherine gave her ladies engraved jewelry boxes and bracelets purchased from Bromberg’s. The groomsmen were gifted with a travel bag and special groomsmen socks to wear on the wedding day.
Exchanging gifts was one of the most special parts of Catherine and Michael’s big day. The two decided to save their first look until Catherine walked down the aisle, so as they stood on opposite sides of a large column at the church, they exchanged letters and gifts. The groom gifted his bride diamond and sapphire jackets for her diamond studs (the perfect something blue!), and Catherine gave him a Tudor watch. Of course, both gifts were purchased from Bromberg’s, a place that had solidified itself as part of their love story.
Michael and Catherine were married by Minister Abouna Peter Zogbi at Saint Elias Maronite Catholic Church in the presence of their closest family and friends.
Due to the pandemic, they were not able to have their planned reception. They are looking forward to celebrating again with more of their loved ones during a 2021 reception.
Catherine inherited her mother’s timeless set of Lenox Eclipse fine china, who coincidentally purchased it from Bromberg’s many years ago. She and Michael registered for Lenox Eternal serving pieces to accompany their family china, Skryos Cantaria Greige everyday china, and Lenox Holiday Christmas china.
