Here is a gorgeous pink tourmaline to start your week off beautifully. Did you know the name tourmaline comes from toramalli, which means “mixed gems” in Sinhalese (a language of Sri Lanka)? It’s a term Dutch merchants applied to the multicolored, water-worn pebbles that miners found in the gem gravels of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), which kind of makes sense since tourmaline can be found in such a fabulous array of colors. In fact, until the development of modern mineralogy these fabulous stones were often mistaken for other gemstones such as ruby or emerald. In fact, stones in the Russian crown jewels believed to be rubies for centuries are now thought to be tourmalines. #happymonday #gemfacts #themoreyouknow #pinktourmaline #tourmaline #brombergsjewelry
